Jen Santoro Rotty brings over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry to her outstanding work as a hair and makeup artist. Her broad base of experience comes from honing her skills working with cosmetic lines such as MAC, Esteé Lauder, and Laura Mercier to creating makeup designs for critically acclaimed fashion designers Carlos Chavez and Joy Noelle. Jen is proficient in airbrush makeup for all kinds of applications from bridal to theatrical and everything in-between. Traditional makeup is also available.

Jen's work has been seen everywhere from runway fashion shows for Marshall Field's (Macy's) Glamorama and for DIFFA (Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS) to national ads for Target, Best Buy, Cub Foods and Hallmark among others. Jen has had the opportunity to work with numerous theater companies such as Hey City Theater and the Chanhassen Dinner Theaters. She was also key hair and makeup artist for the award-winning feature films Two Harbors and The Quietest Sound.

What sets Jen's talent apart is her diversity. She is able to do all kinds of makeup including fashion, theatrical, body painting and basic special FX including crepe hair appliances. Jen is also a theatrical makeup designer and loves the opportunity to create new and interesting looks for stage performers.

BRIDAL MAKEUP AND HAIR

We will go through photos and ideas of how you would like to look on your wedding day. You are encouraged to go through magazines and find some looks that interest you. I will use a face chart and digital photos so I can ensure that the makeup is exactly how you want to look on your special day! If you have chosen to have your hair done as well, you will be able to see how everything looks together. We can also discuss if anyone else in your party would like services and work out the time frame for your day.

There can be additional artists available for large parties or if you need everyone to be done quickly or at the same time. Airbrush makeup and lashes are included in the package prices. All services are done on-location. Package does include a trial run for bride.

One or more artists can be kept on-location for hair and makeup touch-ups during photos, after ceremony, and for reception. This includes touch-ups for the bride and the entire bridal party.

*Mileage will be charged for more than 30 miles outside of the Twin Cities Metro area at the standard IRS rate (50.5 cents/mile currently). The client pays for all parking or valet charges.

Does Airbrush makeup last all day?

Yes, airbrush makeup sits on the skin without looking heavy or overdone. It is silicone based makeup so it does last for hours.

Do I need to bring anything with me to touch up for later?

I always recommend that you purchase a oil blotting powder to touch up the skin throughout the event. Usually this will not have any color so it won't change the foundation appearance, it will just blot up oil and/or perspiration. I also recommend that you purchase your lip color. You can choose something ahead of time and I can build the makeup look to compliment the lip color or we can choose something at your trial run and you can then purchase it prior to your ceremony.

How long have you been doing makeup?

I have been doing makeup since 1998. I started out working for cosmetic counters and then transitioned into full time freelance work.

What makeup do you use?

I use many different brands. Some of my favorites are MAC, Temptu, Smashbox, Purminerals, Bobbie Brown and Laura Mercier.

I worry about getting an infection from unsanitary makeup application.
How do you address that concern?

I am very sanitary when I apply makeup. The airbrush system doesn't come in contact with the skin directly. I always use clean sponges and brushes for every person and I clean my hands between every client. I have not had a problem with infections in the many years I have been doing makeup.

Do you do Lash Application?

Yes, I am proficient at lash application. I do not charge extra for lashes and the application. I typically use full sets of lashes but I can do individual lashes if requested.

Do you perform make up trials?

I will schedule a trial run that at the location of your choosing. I can also have clients come to my home as well if that is more convenient. The trial run consists of the service/s you have booked for your wedding. We will go over photos of looks you have chosen from magazines, internet, etc. We will do the hair and/or makeup just as it will be on the wedding day. If you are having your hair done, we will schedule the trial run after you have chosen your head piece. I do require a non-refundable $75 deposit in order to hold your date as I only book one wedding on any given day. That deposit will then go directly toward your final payment due on the day of the wedding.

How far do you travel?

I will travel within the Twin-Cities Metro area with no extra charge for the first 30 miles. Outside of the Metro area, I charge the current IRS rate after the first 30 miles. If the wedding is outside of the 5 state area (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota) I will make travel arrangements with client.

Do you have regular assistants?

On occasion I will use assistants for hair or makeup if there are many people in the wedding party who want hair and makeup done and need to be ready at the same time. I work with excellent artists who are very experienced with weddings.

SPECIAL OCCASIONS AND MAKEUP LESSONS

I provide hair and makeup services for proms, dances, weddings and any special occasion. All services on-location. No extra charge for airbrush makeup or lashes. I can also provide additional hair and makeup artists if there is a group that would all like to be ready at the same time.

One on One Makeup Lesson and Application

This service includes a personal color consultation, product recommendations, demonstrations for day and evening looks, personalized face chart, instructions for applying your own makeup, and a list of products used. I can go over any specific concerns you may have about your current makeup application techniques. I will go through your makeup kit to evaluate how to incorporate new products to your existing ones and make sure the products you do have are the right ones for you.

*When over 30 miles from artist's location, a mileage fee will be charged. Client pays for all Parking Costs.

THEATRICAL DESIGN

I can design looks for shows complete with face charts. I can come to teach the execution of makeup look for each actor/performer. I can also recommend appropriate products. Open to special requests. CREPE FACIAL HAIR

I can build authentic looking facial hair from mustaches and beards to sideburns. Each design is custom built to actor or model on location.
